This is a really nice idea and will add a lot of cinematic suspense to the game. :)
Perhaps, if an asteroid hits another asteroid it's current movement (if there is any left) stops and it rolls again to represent it glancing away from the collision? Depending on the density of the field, though, it could result in a lot of extra dice rolls and movement.
